Amanda's on the Edge has been run by the North family on McDonalds Road for over two decades, built up in stages from a bare paddock that once hosted the local horse races. The dining room looks over the vineyards and the valley. The kitchen works a set menu at $135 a head, including a bottle of wine between two, with dishes like twelve-hour braised pork belly, crab and sweetcorn ravioli, and three-times cooked duck maryland.
Lunch runs Friday to Sunday and dinner Wednesday to Sunday, and the room is closed Monday and Tuesday, so a midweek lunch needs checking first. Bookings are required, and tables with children are taken by appointment, by email. Chef Sara's chilli sauce, onion jam and Madras marsala paste are sold to take home, so the visit can carry into the pantry.
