Damien Stevens and Jodie Belleville are one of the Hunter's few husband-and-wife winemaking teams, and their Single Vineyard Series is the reason to book a seat. The wines are tight and site-specific: Semillon, Chardonnay, Riesling and Shiraz, made in small quantities.

The cellar door has moved to the Amanda's On The Edge vineyard on McDonalds Road, where a small indoor tasting room opens onto a deck and a grassy area. The Reserve Tasting is $20 a head for up to six wines, and a $30 version adds cheese; the team suggests allowing 45 to 50 minutes. It opens Friday to Sunday, shorter hours on Friday, and closes on public holidays. Groups are capped at eight, so a larger party needs to make contact first. It is a wine-first stop for people who want to talk to whoever made what they are drinking.
