Ash and Lauren Horner run this small-batch label from a tasting bar on Palmers Lane that doubles as their home, and Ash pours wines he made himself, often straight from the barrels around you. The range takes in Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Merlot, drawn from parcels planted between 1982 and 1999.

Tastings start low, at $8 for the Splash & Dash and $15 for the Discovery flight, and step up to a barrel tasting at $45 or the 90-minute Barrel to Bottle hosted by the winemaker. Dogs are welcome, so it is an easy stop if you are travelling with one. Monday to Thursday is by appointment, so call ahead midweek. It is about as close as the Hunter gets to tasting at the winemaker's kitchen table.
