Sobels grows, makes and bottles on 21 acres at Halls Road in Pokolbin, and the cellar door opens 9am to 5pm seven days. The range covers dry and sweet whites, a rose, the classic reds and fortifieds, and the standard tasting works through up to twenty of them, which is a lot of ground for one sitting.

Beyond the bar there is a walk through the working winery with the winemakers, and pairing sessions with artisanal cheese or gourmet chocolate. A makers market sets up out the front on weekends, so it doubles as somewhere to browse local produce. No tasting prices are published on the site, and sessions are booked online, so check as you go. Wine club members and their friends taste free, and large groups of fifteen or more are taken in a covered outdoor setting.
