Self-catering villas spread across 25 landscaped acres of Pokolbin vineyard, in one-bedroom layouts for two and two-bedroom layouts that sleep up to six. Each has an equipped kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace with wood supplied, reverse-cycle air conditioning, a BBQ and free WiFi. A shared pool and spa look out over the vines, and two of the one-bedroom villas are set up for wheelchair access. The setting on Old North Road sits near Vintage Golf Course, Ironbark Hill Vineyard and Hunter Valley Gardens.

The villas open seasonally, from the October long weekend to Easter Monday, so they're not a winter option. Sydney is roughly two hours away, which makes this a weekend base for a couple in a one-bedroom villa or a small group taking a two-bedroom. Since it's self-catering, plan to cook in or bring meals from the nearby cellar doors and restaurants, and confirm your dates fall inside the open season before booking.
