The Vintage is a Greg Norman course on Vintage Drive at Rothbury, one of the few Norman layouts in the Hunter open to the public. It runs to 6,310 metres, par 71, through bushland, vineyard and open country, mixing short par 4s with longer holes, and the bunkering and greens are what golfers tend to remember. A driving range, putting green and short-game area sit by the golf shop for a warm-up first.
Green fees include a cart, and you book a tee time ahead rather than turning up, with the course open seven days for general play. Legends Restaurant and the Spike Bar handle a coffee before the round and a meal after, and the course is part of the Chateau Elan resort if you want to stay on. It gives a non-taster a proper half-day while the rest of a group is out at the cellar doors.
