Nulkaba is just north of Cessnock, on the road most people drive in on. It’s a gateway more than a wine village: the mix leans towards accommodation and everyday services rather than cellar doors, which fits the last stretch before town.
That makes it a practical base. Stay here and you’re close to Cessnock’s shops, food and fuel, and a short drive from the Pokolbin and Lovedale cellar doors, which suits anyone who wants to be near the wineries without staying on one. There’s one cellar door and a few other stops if you’re passing through.
Use Nulkaba at the start or end of a day rather than the middle. The nearest tastings are a few minutes west, worth keeping in mind when you plan how you’ll move between places.
