27 Rows is four self-contained cottages on 25 acres of Shiraz on Hermitage Road at Pokolbin, and the vines are the reason to book. Wisteria sleeps up to four across a king and a queen room, each with its own ensuite, and can be taken as one bedroom or two. Lilly Pilly is a king cottage for a couple, while The Vines 1 and 2 are spa cottages, each with a corner spa bath, a rainwater shower and a private deck looking over the dam to the Brokenback Ranges.
Every stay opens with a bottle of the estate's own Shiraz or Rosé and breakfast provisions for the first morning. Decks are gated and dogs are welcome, so a couple, a family of four or a group taking all four cottages all work here. The Hermitage Road cellar doors are close enough to walk to, and there are no set reception hours, so arrange your arrival with the owners when you book.
