Honey Wines Australia is the Hunter's only meadery, a small cellar door at Broke where the drink is honey wine rather than grape. A tasting runs as a guided paddle of six meads led by the mead maker, from a traditional style through fruit and spiced versions. Everything is by booking, so contact ahead rather than turning up.

The evening mead tasting and stargazing experience pairs the tasting with a 1.5 hour guided tour of the night sky through an 8-inch telescope. It sits well away from town lights out at Broke, and the minimum age is 12, with under-18s along for the telescope rather than the mead. Custom dates open up for groups of four or more.
