1813 pours a flight of eight wines drawn from the five varieties grown on the sixteen acres of vine you can see through the glass, Verdelho, Fiano, Chambourcin, Shiraz and a Muscat among them. Tastings happen in an atrium looking out at Yellow Rock and the estate rows, with a serve of olives alongside and a square of dark chocolate poured with The Governor, the reserve Shiraz released only in the best years.
The tasting is $20 a head, and every guest counts toward the booking, drivers and children included, so the table is sized before you arrive. It opens Saturday and Sunday, and larger groups are arranged by email. The same Tinonee Vineyard Estate lets two houses among the vines, bookable separately or together and sharing a private pool, if you want to stay the night out at Broke. The vineyard is sustainably farmed for soil health and vine vitality.
