Established2005

Harkham crushes 20 to 25 tonnes a year, one of the smaller working wineries on De Beyers Road, and it makes wine with no chemical additions, fining or filtration. The family arrived in 2005 by way of Zichron Yaakov in Israel, and Aziza Harkham, the grandmother whose kitchen wines started it, has a range under her own name. Richie Harkham makes the wine, off Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay.

A tasting is 45 minutes at a table in the cellar door, looking across to the Brokenback Range, with $10, $20 and $30 tiers and some experiences redeemable on a purchase. A $10 surcharge applies after 4.30pm for the twilight sitting. Next door the wine bar runs small plates day or night, so a tasting can turn into lunch without moving. The cellar door opens Thursday to Sunday, bookings are wise for a seat at the table, and the four-bedroom Harkham House sits on the estate next to it.
