Pokolbin Brothers pours from a corrugated iron winery shed on Palmers Lane, on the corner of McDonalds Road, which is close to how cellar doors in this valley started. The fruit is all estate grown from the Grandvin Estate vineyard first planted in 1976, hand-picked and gently pressed, and the range runs to Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot and a sparkling Moscato.
Grapemobile hires out electric and conventional bikes from the same site, so this is a sensible first or last stop on a cycling day, when you can leave the car and pedal between the McDonalds Road cellar doors. Tastings run Thursday to Sunday, and small bus groups are welcome if they book ahead. No tasting fee is published, so ask at the shed. It is an unfussy, old-style stop rather than a destination, and the bikes are the reason a lot of people find it.
