Vinden's cellar door is a light-filled room looking straight onto the vineyard and the working winery, with al fresco seating for when it is warm. Tastings run on the hour from 10am, take about 45 minutes and cover eight wines for $20, with the last one starting at 4pm.
The Shiraz comes off a block planted in 1995 on red clay, plus a dry-grown 2004 block on red volcanic soil at Somerset, so there is some genuine site difference to taste across. Peacocks roam the gardens, so keep the dog on a lead. Larger groups of thirteen or more are $25 a head over an hour. The Vinden Estate Homestead sleeps twelve across six bedrooms with a pool over the vineyard, and the cellar door is wheelchair accessible and takes families. It opens seven days, 10am to 5pm.
