Dalwood was first planted by George Wyndham in 1828 and is the longest running commercial vineyard in Australia, trading for decades as Wyndham Estate before the Dalwood name returned in 2018. The vineyard is planted mainly to Chardonnay, Semillon and Shiraz, with some blocks regrafted to Tempranillo and Touriga for their historical link to the site. Bryan Currie makes the wine.
There is no walk-in cellar door. Tastings here are by appointment only, in a private tasting room, so a visit has to be arranged ahead rather than dropped in on. That makes it a stop for someone with a real interest in the history and the older vines, booked in advance, rather than a casual pull-off on a day of cellar-door hopping.
