Mount View Estate has worked the same block on Mount View Road for around 45 years, in the foothills south of Pokolbin, with its oldest vines planted in 1971. Everything under the label is grown and made on the estate in small batches, and the wines are sorted into an Estate range, a Reserve series off those old vines, and a Flagship tier held back for the better vintages. Chardonnay, Semillon, Shiraz, Verdelho and Pinot Noir make up the range. The cellar door has outdoor seating that makes the most of the elevated position.
Bookings are asked for, and the venue does not publish a tasting price, so confirm the cost when you reserve. There is accommodation on site if you want to stay over, which is the sensible way to handle a day spent tasting. Mount View is a short climb up from the main Pokolbin roads, far enough to feel quieter than the central strip.
