Established1971

Petersons began as an old dairy farm at Mount View, where Ian Peterson planted ten acres of Semillon in 1971 and sold the fruit to a neighbouring winery before making his own first vintage in 1981. The cellar door still sits on that hilltop ringed by vines, looking out to Mount Sugarloaf and the Watagan Mountains.

Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet and Pinot Noir followed the Semillon into the ground, and all of them are poured here. No opening hours or tasting price are published on the site, so book online or call before you drive up. The family keeps a second Hunter cellar door on Broke Road at Pokolbin if you would rather taste in the middle of things, but the Mount View hill is the original and the one with the view. It is a quieter corner of the region, worth the short climb off the valley floor.
