Meerea Park is the Eather family's label, launched in 1991 and made by Rhys Eather from fruit off some of the Hunter's older vineyard sites. The core is single-vineyard Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz, and the range widens from there into Marsanne, Roussanne, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and a Prosecco, so a tasting covers more ground than the Hunter staples alone.
The cellar door on McDonalds Road pours seven days and charges nothing for walk-ins and any group under eight. Groups of eight or more pay $15 a head and need to book, tasting in a private area that seats up to twelve. It opens 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. With no restaurant or lawns to settle into, it is a straightforward tasting stop rather than a half-day in itself, which makes it a good one to slot between longer visits. It is one of the cheaper tastings in Pokolbin, free unless you come as a large group, and closed only on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
