Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year 2026

Established1997

Andrew Thomas spent thirteen years at Tyrrell's before starting his own label in 1997, and he has stayed on two grapes ever since: single-vineyard Semillon and Shiraz. Braemore Semillon and Kiss Shiraz sit at the top of a deliberately short list, and the tastings are built to compare sites rather than sweep a broad range.

The Discovery is $15 for an hour, the Explorer $25, and Provenance sets current releases against cellared wines over 75 minutes for $100. For a single grape there is Semillon Semersion and Shiraz Sojourn, nine and eight wines respectively at $25, the Semillon flight pouring Braemore and its Cellar Reserve among them. The cellar door is on the corner of Hermitage Road and Mistletoe Lane in the Estate Tuscany complex, open seven days, with dogs and children welcome. Thomas was named Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year for 2026, and Andrew Thomas Winemaker of the Year in 2023.
