Keith Tulloch

Keith Tulloch is a fourth-generation Hunter winemaker who started bottling under his own name in the late 1990s, and since 2011 the whole operation has run from the Field of Mars estate on Hermitage Road. Keith and Amanda Tulloch own it, with Brendan Kaczorowski now making the wines. The tasting room looks straight out over vines planted in 1968 on the alluvial sands of Rothbury Creek, and that is where the single-block Semillon, Chardonnay, Viognier and Shiraz are grown.

Tastings are seated and booked online, and the price shows at the point of booking rather than on the website, so check it when you reserve. Downstairs there is Wine by the Glass on the Fireplace Terrace, arranged on the day because the courtyard space is weather dependent. The cellar door opens 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, with public holidays excluded. Two rules worth knowing before you bring a group: the tasting room is strictly over-18, and pets cannot come in.
