Declan and Danielle McCaffrey came back from ten years working in European wine regions and started this place on Hermitage Road in 2014, on an 11-acre block planted in 1990. Tastings are seated, look over the vines, and come with the family's own account of the year, which is the point of a cellar door this small. They grow Semillon, Verdelho, Chardonnay and the Bordeaux reds.
The four options run from a straight $15 tasting up through wine and cheese at $20 and a tasting with a picnic box at $45, to A Winemaker for the Day, a 90-minute session where you blend, bottle and label a wine to take home for $120. It is set up for families: children get their own pack, and the cellar door takes dogs. Open daily 10am to 5pm, closed public holidays, and it is worth a call ahead to confirm availability before you drive out.
