Pokolbin Estate opens daily on McDonalds Road and pours a range sold only at its own cellar door: Shiraz, Semillon, Tempranillo, a Riesling solera and a set of boutique blends. Tastings run either as a self-paced paddle of five pours matched to cheese or chocolate, or as a guided wine and chocolate pairing, with a Puff and Pour that sets five house-made pastries against five wines.
A horse and cart takes visitors out through the vines to a paddle in the vineyard, and there are lawn games and picnic tables for anyone not drinking, plus a juice and lolly paddle for ages six to seventeen, so it is a genuinely family-workable stop. Groups of up to forty are taken, with a private barrel room for larger parties. It stays open to 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday, later than most, and it is wheelchair accessible. No prices are published on the site, so book online or call the cellar door.
