Woodward's works the Valley View Vineyard at Pokolbin, planted in 1972, and the growers are usually out in it rather than standing behind a counter. Tastings are booked, ten dollars a head, and normally run on Saturday mornings out among the vines themselves; they will tell you 10am Saturday is the best slot.
The wines split between the everyday Sam Who? Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz and a Reserve Shiraz that goes back to 2014. Because this is a working farm rather than a full-time cellar door, write first: nothing is confirmed until they reply, and not every day or time will be free. It is a genuinely small, grower-run stop for people who would rather stand in the vineyard with the person who farms it than work a polished bar. Offsite private tastings can also be arranged.
