Talits Estate is a French Provencal folly at Broke, a chateau replica drawn by French architects and set on 50 acres under the Brokenback range with a lake, olive trees and a petanque court. Daniel Binet makes the wine, and the cellar door at the property entrance opened in 2020.
A tasting is about six wines for $20, among them the still and sparkling rose, a blanc de blancs, Chardonnay, Semillon and a Pinot Syrah. Cheese and charcuterie come from Binnorie Dairy at Lovedale and Hungerford Meat Co at Branxton, and there is Broke Brewing craft beer on tap if wine is not the point. It opens Friday to Sunday and public holidays, dogs are welcome at the cellar door on their best behaviour, and there is a petanque court and lawn games for children. The homestead sleeps ten and can be booked for a stay, and Talits was a finalist for Cellar Door of the Year in 2021.
