Vamp is Lisa McGuigan's own cellar door on Broke Road, opened in 2019 as the home of her label. She is a fourth-generation Hunter winemaker who went from hospitality to building Tempus Two before striking out on her own, and she sources fruit from wherever a variety grows best in Australia and finishes the wine in the Hunter. A tasting here can run across Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir as readily as Shiraz and Chardonnay. The room is laid out as a set of themed spaces, with smaller semi-private tables and a larger area for groups.
A general tasting is from $20 for six or seven wines, and walk-ins are taken most days. It opens Monday, Thursday and Sunday until 5, later on Friday and Saturday, while Tuesday and Wednesday are held for booked groups. Broke Road is central Pokolbin, so Vamp slots easily between the bigger names on that stretch.
